| Building Overview |
|
California Market Center is located at 110 East 9th St. in downtown Los Angeles.
The existing site was built in 4 phases, between 1963 and 1979, as a wholesale apparel mart. The campus is comprised of three buildings bounded by Olympic, Main, 9th and Los Angeles Streets. These three buildings are interconnected on every floor with a series of interior bridges and escalators for quick transport between floors. There is also a building called ˇ°Mart South,ˇ± primarily devoted to apparel production offices, located at the southwest corner of Olympic and Los Angeles.
With extensive renovations begun in 2002, the CaliforniaMart was reborn as the California Market Center, now home to an impressive array of goods including fashion apparel and accessories, textiles for apparel and interiors, and gift & home furnishings. This merchandising shift was implemented to mirror current times, where the most successful retailers, designers & manufacturers are regularly crossing product categories to communicate a lifestyle vision.
